BUTTERCUPS DAY OUT October
The forecast was for 12 degrees at Marysville, I sent an email to the ladies the night before, suggesting warm jackets are recommended.
Leaving the bowling club at 9:45am, we had a break for morning tea in the gardens at the base of Maroondah Reservoir. (Morning tea was provided by the coach company).
On arrival at “Bruno’s Sculpture Garden” Bruno gave us an interesting talk on how and why he purchased the property and survived “Black Saturday”. We sensed the emotion still in his voice.
Setting off around the garden in small groups, cameras were clicking, and laughter could be heard all around. What an amazing place to visit. Just beating the rain, we boarded the coach and headed for the bakery to buy our lunch. Socialising with a group of ladies from the Monbulk Probus Club before heading for home. Kylie, our driver was entertaining and punctual, getting us safely back to the bowling club at 4pm.

Buttercups Garden Group September.
Several members of the garden group didn’t know of the local attraction at Federation Estate. The State Heritage listed 1920s former Ringwood School House is now the Culture Centre, with landscaped native gardens, a sensory play area and large wood carvings, The art gallery had a marvelous display in the small room of Pamela Irving’s “Waste not, want not” which we found fascinating. After this adventure we decided to have a look at the Melbourne Plant shop. Although small in number this month, it was good to get together. Margaret A.
The Buttercups Gardening Group headed to the Burwood Brickworks Rooftop gardens and cafe in August. With the sun warming our backs as we had our coffee and discussed our latest gardening ventures. We then split up and walked around many garden beds, worm farms and compost bins. This is run by Cal Groups and those who are deaf or hard of hearing. All produce that is grown is distributed to communities through Melbourne. A very interesting morning for all.
