Club Testimonials

When I moved to Ringwood, I joined Ringwood Ladies Probus along with guiding friends, sadly it had to close due to rising rent, I believe it was the 1st ladies probus Club. So, it was down to Heathmont Ladies Probus Club where I haven’t been happier. Old friends from my children’s primary school, great speakers, and lots of interesting groups to join.

It is over 30 years ago when my friend invited me to her Probus meeting. I have been hooked ever since. Some of the activities I really enjoy are.

  • The Speakers, inform and entertain us.
  • Day outings that include visiting gardens, historic homes, theatre, exhibitions and luncheons. (the list goes on).
  • Interest Groups – I never imagined I would belong to a Book Club, Dine and Discussion group or Quilting group.
  • If you are looking for something interesting and would like to meet like-minded Ladies, why not visit us?

Joining Heathmont Ladies Probus group in 2023 has proved to be an excellent decision. I have met so many wonderful women, been introduced to the game of Mahjong which I love and found like-minded people who enjoy knitting and other crafts. The monthly meetings and outings have added a new dimension to my retirement. I encourage others to give it a try. You may just find your niche.

Dear Lady members

I was extremely touched to receive your messages and wishes.  It made me reflect on the happy times and friendships made over the years at the General Meetings.  Also, remembering various interest groups I attended.  The book group, discussion group, mah-jong and cards.

The number of outings I enjoyed and some short stay vacations.  Not to forget the monthly Saturday movie and lunch group.

Probus is a wonderful organisation and filled a big hole at a certain time in my life.

Thank you once again and best wishes for the continuing success of the Heathmont Ladies Probus Club.

Regards from Jean H. February 1990

Having been a Heathmont Probus member for many years, I would like to assure future members that even if they have no spare days to join special groups, attending the monthly meeting and enjoying the speakers is well worthwhile

I recently joined Heathmont Probus Club and found the welcome genuinely warm and inclusive. From the outset I noticed the camaraderie between members and was impressed by the range of interest groups and planned outings.
Although I am a little younger than the average member, I find the enthusiasm and zest for life by this group of motivated women inspirational. I look forward to many happy times together.

A few months after retirement from a frenetic career, I felt the pull of a ladies group. Especially one that stood for diversity of experience, age, sharing and friendship – not to excuse learning.
So – several years on I am still secretary enjoying the highlights  of Probus, surviving the minutes and trivia and meeting new faces. Peoples’ histories, adventures are a treat and our outings and activities do the group credit.
Plus the laughter on committee is therapeutic. Give us a go.

What Probus means to me. When I retired from work twenty six years ago, I thought I was going to be so bored with nothing to do, I was so wrong! A friend took me to a meeting of the Heathmont Ladies Probus. Six months later and I was on committee for the next twenty four years, just standing down eighteen months ago after thirteen years as Welfare Officer. I did lots of various jobs, as well as President twice. I am in many different groups that I love. My days are full and my life is busy. The club honoured me with Life Membership about eleven years ago with which I was very thrilled. I have made life-long friends and I encourage any retired lady to get in touch with Probus. You won’t regret it.

My late husband Ray was a member of the Men’s Probus , he suggested I join Heathmont Ladies Probus, as he believed I would enjoy it – he was right!!!  Our Club members are very friendly and I’ve been on many wonderful day trips, the regular speakers are very informative and our lovely Christmas luncheon  completes each year. I ran the kitchen for two years and really loved being involved and helping out our club. I hope anyone who is thinking of joining gets a lot out of Probus like I have. Gwen D. Inducted 1995.

On the recommendation of family members, I was determined to join a Probus Club upon my retirement. Without knowing anyone in the Club I attended Heathmont Ladies Probus with trepidation and nervousness but was welcomed with friendly, smiling ladies who went out of their way to make me feel part of the club. I immediately joined the Garden Group and have enjoyed many interesting outings with the group. With such an array of diverse and varied groups there is an interest for everyone.  I would encourage others to join to discover the friendship, fun sharing and learning that exists within this club.
